What we did in 2011:

  • Strutt and Parker awarded a bursary to:
  • Mila Furstova to develop work that was suitable for showing outside.

The Quenington Sculpture Trust awarded bursaries to:
  • Davy and Kristin McGuire to show their innovative video installation "Pinboard"in the boathouse.
  • Irene Hoppenberg for her bold and colourful "Butterfly" sculpture coming from Germany.
  • Laura McKinley showed the exciting new work she developed while she served her apprenticeship at Loco Glass, Cirencester made possible by the hot-glass bursary she was awarded at Fresh Air 2009.
  • Alec Finlay for his conceptual installation "Chekhov's Dogs".

  • ECCO! This was again a feature at Fresh Air 2011!” (Encouraging Children to Collect (art) Objects). We asked every exhibitor to donate a working sketch. These were for sale in the entry tent and were only sold to young people of 18 years and under. Prices were kept to £10 - £60. The aim was to catch budding collectors early on and to encourage the excitement of collecting original works of art. This year we raised over £1000 for the Fresh Air 2013 education programme.

  • Stroud College of Art: Foundation students from Stroud College of Art exhibited a series of works as part of their coursework.

  • The William Yeoward Award
William Yeoward, a generous supporter of Fresh Air for over a decade, is well known for his understanding of good design and craftsmanship. Innovative as always, he has created a new type of bursary for Fresh Air. We auctioned glass made by our last sponsored apprentice during his internship at LocoGlass and the money raised will sponsor another young artist in 2013.

  • Teacher's Development Days: We held two inspirational workshops for teachers of art with exhibiting artist Aimee Lax.
  • Cheltenham Music Festival Concert: We sponsored, Rhys Matthew, a young precussionist, to give a concert in St Swithin's Church, Quenington as part of the Cheltenham Music Festival.
  • The Blues and Jazz band, Kingslake Keegan & Gower, played at selected dates during the show.
